Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer |Double Days| Salary DOE

They are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance engineering and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities. This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to minimise downtime and maintain high operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of all operational equipment, ensuring safe working practices and responding promptly to issues as they arises
- Perform reactive breakdown repairs and adhere to the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule to ensure minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.
- Diagnose and repair a variety of electrical and mechanical systems, including inverter drives, PLCs, PSUs, conveyors, multi-head weighers, check weighers, flow wrappers, over-wrapping machines, gas flush machines, and other related systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance on all plant and services, maintaining accurate records of all activities to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Assist in managing Health and Safety, Environmental, and Company policies, ensuring compliance with current regulations and legislation.
- Support current and future projects
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by the employer to support the team and company objectives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and operate all building services systems, including refrigeration, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, air handling systems, air conditioning, and the computerised Building Management System (BMS).
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in fault-finding electrical systems and control circuits.
- Engineering experience in a fast-paced Food or Automotive facility.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution and control systems, with proficiency in reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- IEE qualified to 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations.
- Previous experience in programming and fault-finding on PLCs, inverter drive controls, HMIs, and other logic systems.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and building management control systems.
- Skilled in working with 3-phase electrical systems, DC control circuits, and safety circuits.
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret both mechanical and electrical schematic drawings to component level and perform accurate fault-finding.
- Excellent mechanical skills, including fabrication, welding, motor repairs, gearbox repairs, and plumbing.
- Experience managing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems, ensuring statutory compliance, and maintaining food and Health & Safety systems.
