Technical Manager / Fresh Produce / Spalding

£50-60k plus package

As the Lead Technical Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of technical compliance, quality management, and customer engagement for the business. This role involves ensuring that standards and procedures across the supply chain meet the requirements of specific customers such as Tesco, M&S, and others. You will be the quality management champion, working to align processes, evaluate new science and methodologies, and enhance standards across production and distribution sites. Your leadership will ensure that all compliance targets, including ethical and audit standards, are consistently maintained.

You will also support all third-party audits and ensure the internal audit management aligns with the company's "audit ready every day" culture, in conjunction with the Technical Compliance Manager. Additionally, you will be responsible for site HACCP and QMS systems, ensuring all products are produced in a safe and legal manner to protect the integrity of our customers' brands.

The role

• Manage the technical functions at site including Retail & Home Delivery, ensuring efficiency in quality delivery, compliance information, and specifications.
• Oversee retail customer requirements, managing expectations to deliver brand protection and uphold company values.
• Represent the business and engage with external suppliers, working closely with the Technical Compliance Manager to lead and develop their standards.
• Manage, train, and develop the site technical teams and Quality Manager to enhance their capabilities.
• Develop and report on group KPIs related to site standards, product quality, compliance, culture, and specifications.
• Implement plans to improve KPIs where necessary.
• Monitor industry changes and legal updates, communicating these to the wider team.
• Support HACCP team meetings, ensuring they occur regularly and that learnings are implemented.
• Standardize supplier compliance with effective performance monitoring and annual reviews.
• Promote a culture of "audit ready every day."
• Encourage and facilitate internal cross-functional collaboration.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Customer Facing Technical Manager and you will have experience of working within the fresh produce/food sector. You will have a great eye for detail, have excellent IT skills and have proven project management skills along with the ability to work to tight deadlines

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role you must have experience of working with retailers, you must but a self-starter, and be able to work on your own initiative. The business is fast paced and you will be required to meet the needs of the business as and when required.
