About Our Client

Our client is a leading packer of fresh produce into the retailer and food service sector. They are looking for Quality Assurance Assistant to be based at their service provision in Cambridgeshire, where you'll support the Quality Manager in ensuring top-tier fruit quality from arrival to dispatch. This role requires teamwork, autonomy, and meticulous attention to detail, thriving under pressure with a proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Assessment: Collaborate with service provider QCs to evaluate fruit quality upon arrival.
  • Stock Monitoring: Regularly assess stock quality, advising on usage suitability.
  • Production Oversight: Monitor quality during production and check finished products.
  • Sample Management: Assist in preparing and sending samples for customer evaluation and laboratory testing.
  • Trial Assessment: Support in evaluating trial varieties and new postharvest technologies.
  • Database Maintenance: Update Quality Tracker, Laboratory Samples Tracker, Rejections, Complaints, and Variety Trials Tracker.
  • Shelf-Life Assessment: Conduct assessments with service providers and report findings.
  • Reporting: Help prepare quality updates and end-of-season reports.

  • Communication: Confidently liaise with internal teams, service providers, growers, and customers.
  • Autonomous: Ability to work independently and manage tasks under time constraints.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support: Cover for the Quality Manager when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to quality initiatives and improvements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • For this role you will currently be a QC/ QA within a fresh produce business. You will have a proven track record of driving quality standards forward and improving processes within a business. You will build good working relationships internal and externally within the business.
