What will you be doing?

As the Plant Buyer and manager you will play a key role in driving the success of the garden centre's plant offerings as well as leading and developing the team.

Your responsibilities will include sourcing a wide variety of plants, shrubs, and trees, ensuring the business provides high-quality products at competitive prices. You'll work closely with the Company Directors to set stock levels, manage budgets, and negotiate with suppliers to maximise profitability.

You'll also take a hands-on role within the Plant Department, assisting customers, addressing inquiries, and ensuring exceptional customer service. Managing and training staff, maintaining discipline, and fostering a positive work environment are key aspects of the role. You will also be responsible for security, health and safety, and ensuring displays are attractive and up to date.

What do you need?

Experience in plant buying and management within the horticultural industry.

Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing the best supplier terms.

Excellent customer service and communication skills, with an eye for detail to ensure product quality, stock accuracy, and appealing sales displays.

A deep understanding of current trends and consumer behaviour within the gardening sector.
