I am working with a leading supplier in the fresh produce industry. They source a diverse range of fruits and vegetables from trusted growers, and deliver top-tier products to retailers and food service providers across the region.



About the Role

They are seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join their close-knit team. In this key role, you will maintain and optimise all automated packaging machinery, ensuring smooth operations in a fast-paced environment.   • Monday to Friday, 10-hour day shifts (47.5 hours per week)
  • Competitive salary of circa £42,500/year (or hourly pro-rata) with flexibility for the right candidate.
  • Weekend work is voluntary but requested on a rota basis during busy periods or for major engineering projects requiring downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of automated packaging machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Contribute to engineering projects, particularly during periods of downtime.
  • Uphold the company's standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a mechanically biased maintenance engineer, preferably in a production or packaging environment.
  • Strong understanding of automated machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to participate in weekend work on a rota basis when required.
  • Commitment to teamwork and contributing to a positive work culture.
