HR Manager

We are working with the UK's largest independent strawberry grower. The Group, which also has berry growing operations overseas and grows early UK asparagus, uses modern and innovative growing techniques to drive and support its thriving year-round soft fruit import business. Their principal customers include the major multiple food retailers. They also continually look to protect the environment in all they do. They are looking for a new HR Manager to join their site in Hereford.

The Role

To be responsible for the HR department in Herefordshire & Wales, ensuring that company policies are in place and operating effectively whilst motivating and developing the HR team in order to deliver outstanding customer service. Responsible for the selection, recruitment & induction of permanent staff in line with company policy and statutory legislation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations matters, fostering a positive working environment.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns, maintaining a fair and equitable workplace.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Work closely with department heads to understand staffing needs and plan for future talent requirements.
  • Oversee performance management processes, providing guidance to managers on performance reviews, goal setting, and career development.
  • Manage external HR Audits
  • Monitor absence/sickness absence and complete return to work interviews as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, staying up-to-date on changes and implementing necessary adjustments.

Required

  • Proven experience in HR management, preferably in the agriculture, retail or fresh produce industry
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
