An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to drive forward and expand the sales agency/brokerage department within a highly regarded forestry and woodland team. The role involves a mix of sales, disposals, valuations, and identifying investment opportunities across Scotland and northern England.
Forestry experience is not essential, but an understanding of land agency and MRICS qualification (or equivalent) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to buy, sell, and develop relationships with a broad client base, both private and institutional.
The Role
- Acting as the principal sales/disposals agent for forest and woodland owners throughout Scotland and northern England.
- Assisting the Registered Valuer with forestry valuations and property portfolios, including site work, valuation preparation, and draft presentations.
- Identifying investment opportunities for forest/planting land acquisitions and presenting investment recommendations to clients.
- Maintaining a strong and proactive client base in Scotland and northern England.
- Overseeing the sales process with a professional and client-focused approach.
- Becoming proficient in drone operations to survey client properties and ensuring all drone operations comply with CAA standards.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) and/or experienced MICFor-qualified forester, or working towards relevant qualifications.
- Experience in delivering sales across a range of projects is desirable.
- Strong networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients while generating new opportunities.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, particularly for report writing, valuation preparation, and sales particulars.
- Ability to analyze forest data and produce valuations and cash flows for both internal purposes and client presentations.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and team members.
- A flexible approach to working hours and responsibilities.
- Awareness of confidentiality issues and discretion in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- University degree (or equivalent).
- MRICS qualified and/or membership of or working towards ICF (Institute of Chartered Foresters).
Experience:
- Ideally, a minimum of five years of experience in the forestry industry, land management, or brokerage.
- Confident and ambitious with excellent people skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Qualified drone pilot holding PfCO (desirable but not required).
- Experience with GIS mapping software would be advantageous.
