I am currently working with a family-run enterprise that specialises in producing high-quality soft and top fruits for the UK market. With a history of fruit cultivation dating back to the 1960s, the business has expanded from traditional apple and pear orchards to include a diverse range of berries, such as raspberries and blueberries. Each year, over 600 tonnes of fresh fruit are handpicked and packed on-site to ensure the highest standards of quality.
And they need a Farm Mechanic to join their team! They are looking for a Problem solver, who can manage their own workload with positive attitude. Don't worry you won't be the only one in the team, so you'll be working with a great team already onsite, this means reliable communication skills are necessary!
You will have experience:
- In a mechanical role on a broad range of vehicles and machinery
- Experience working on heavy plant or agricultural machinery
- Ability to diagnose faults
- Welding experience
- Full driving licence
- Experience driving farm machinery and forklifts
Your day will involve:
- Inspecting, diagnosing faults, and repairing farm machinery and equipment
- Attending machinery breakdowns
- Scheduling and carrying out servicing and routine maintenance (including MOT preparation) on all machinery, vehicles, and tractors.
- Keeping records of all work/maintenance
- Managing work priorities
- Procuring spare parts/components from the most cost-effective source
- Assisting with farm duties at busy times of the year
- Complying with HSE requirements
Experience is key in this role but obviously Qualifications are a massive advantage!
You will be working:
- Monday - Friday (With Overtime opportunity)
