Assistant Technical Growing Manager
West Sussex
£DOE plus relocation support
Been looking to join a business that invest in you?
Ready to use your knowledge to increase the quality of millions of plants a year?
This rare opportunity is due to a retirement, so now it could be your chance to work for this well-known, commercial nursery.
What's the Role?
Reporting to the Technical Director who has been in the business for over 20 years, you'll have a lot of support behind you as you grow into this role.
You'll be working across their 4 sites, developing your skills in people management.
You'll have a range of responsibilities in this role, meaning no two days will be the same.
One day, you'll see yourself spending your time across their 30ac of growing. You'll spend your morning focusing on production and planning for next year, and then spend the afternoon crop walking and ensuring the team are confident to do the job.
The next, you might be looking at compliance and continuous improvement across the nursery. You might spend time looking into new technology, or new varieties to trial.
The next day might be an office-based day. This could be looking at current and past data, updating forecasts or talking to suppliers.
This role will see you spending about half of your time in the office, and half out on site.
What do I need?
You might have experience working in a business that is growing crops on a commercial scale and looking to take a step up. That could be soft fruit, protected salads, or ornamentals.
You could be working in a technical advisory role for the industry but want something more local.
Either way, we want to hear from you.
It'd be great if you have management experience. But don't worry if you've not had a chance to do this, they're happy to invest in you.
