About Us:
We are one of Europe's largest independent soft fruit growers, supplying premium fresh produce to major retailers. Our success is driven by innovative farming methods, including advanced 'tabletop' systems, cutting-edge polythene tunnel designs, and the creation of microclimates that set us apart in the industry.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Agricultural Engineer to join our team at our Kent site. In this role, you will manage the maintenance and repair of our agricultural equipment, including Tractors (Case and New Holland), vehicles, telehandlers, forklifts, and trailers. Based in our on-site workshop, you'll handle routine maintenance and engage in creative engineering tasks, such as designing and fabricating custom components to enhance our farm equipment's functionality.
What are your responsibilities?
- Ensure the efficient upkeep and repair of all agricultural machinery and vehicles, minimising downtime and maximising performance.
- Apply your engineering skills to design and fabricate new components, such as brackets and hitches, to optimise equipment functionality.
- Conduct regular inspections, identify potential issues, and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Maintain an organised and efficient workshop, ensuring tools, parts, and supplies are well-managed.
- Collaborate closely with the farming team to understand their needs and provide engineering solutions that enhance farm productivity.
Key Requirements:
- BSc (Hons) in Agriculture with Mechanisation, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification.
- CPCS Telehandler Certificate (2021) and City & Guilds PA1 & PA2 certifications (2022) are preferred.
- Previous experience working in a farm environment is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills, with expertise in maintenance, repair, and fabrication. Experience with hydraulics and tractor PTO systems is essential.
- A proactive, self-motivated individual with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a forward-thinking company that leverages cutting-edge agricultural techniques.
- Opportunity to expand and refine your engineering skills in a dynamic farming environment.
- Play a vital role in maintaining the machinery that supports the production of high-quality fresh produce.
