Greenfingers Charity is dedicated to creating magical and inspiring gardens for life-limited children and their families in hospices across the country. These gardens provide spaces for relaxation, play, and therapeutic rest, enhancing the quality of life for those who spend time in hospices.
In 2024, Kate Ebbens, President of the Garden Industry Manufacturers Association (GIMA), embarked on a remarkable fundraising journey for Greenfingers Charity. She committed to running 5 kilometres every day throughout the year, aiming to raise £20,000 to support the charity's mission.
By July 2024, Kate had reached a significant milestone, completing seven months of daily runs and raising over £14,000, which is 70% of her target. She expressed her determination by stating, "The legs are still pushing hard as I head towards my goal of 1,000 miles."
Kate's unwavering dedication and innovative fundraising efforts have significantly contributed to Greenfingers Charity, enabling the creation of more enchanting gardens for children in hospices across the UK.
At a recent MorePeople Executive Networking Club Dinner, Kate was in attendance and it was arranged that our Chairman Guy Moreton would join Kate on one of her daily runs!
On 18th December 2024 Kate joined us at our offices in Stamford to embark on a 10k walk with Guy, joined by our Commercial Horticulture team Brian and Rae.
As a result, WorldWide Fruit CEO Steve Maxwell has contributed to the fundraising, matched by MorePeople – as agreed at the dinner.
A big thank you to Kate for involving us in her remarkable fundraising campaign, reaching over £20k currently!
