Benefits of Behavioural Assessments in the Workplace

2 days ago by Beth Cummings

The Behavioural Assessment is an intriguing term that we may hear in the recruitment world. But do we really know what it means, and do we really understand its importance?

Beyond the surface of uncovering characteristics, behavioural assessments provide a wealth of information about your needs, productivity, how your traits may adapt in certain situations, your ‘flexes’, what makes you tick and what makes you thrive.

We had the pleasure of meeting with Claire Collins, Operations Manager & Certified Drake P3 Behavioural Assessment Expert for Drake International. Claire conducted an incredibly useful training session with the MorePeople team to educate us on the importance of the Drake P3 test and specifically how we can utilise this in our role as recruiters. Designed by recruiters themselves, the Drake P3 testing provides us with an in-depth study analysing the recipient’s communication styles, emotional intelligence, motivational needs and stress levels, just to name a few!

If we look at behavioural testing in recruitment through the lens of the client, it allows recruiters to gain a deeper understanding of your company ethos and specifically what candidate traits are going to harmonise with this. It allows you to develop top talent and enhance productivity, whilst also shedding light on training areas. From a candidate's perspective, it ensures their skills are placed in the correct job for retention and stability purposes, as well as for their own satisfaction. Claire emphasised the importance of behavioural testing, specifically with communication styles for managers. It allows them to gain a better understanding of their colleagues, adjust their communication styles and be more observant to behavioural changes.

Let’s hear from P3 Behavioural Expert Claire and her thoughts on Drake P3 in the recruitment world.

"Using a personality assessment like the Drake P3 during recruitment has many perks. It stands out because it was built by recruiters for recruiters! It gives clear, science-backed insights into key personality traits, communication styles, and what motivates candidates, which can predict how they'll perform at work. This helps recruiters get a better sense of who the candidates are, ensuring they fit well with the role and the company culture. By tapping into these insights, organisations can make smarter hiring decisions, improve team dynamics, and boost overall productivity and employee satisfaction. Let's not forget its ability to build retention though effective communication reports and workshops".

"Then there is the candidate piece, these assessments offer valuable career coaching insights, helping the individual understand their strengths and areas for growth. Guiding them towards roles where they can truly thrive and succeed.”

Claire Collins, Operations Manager & Drake P3 Behavioural Expert, Drake International.

To summarise, understanding behaviour is incredibly important in the recruitment world. It is evident that it offers us a wealth of benefits from a client and candidate perspective. A huge thank you to Claire for educating us further and allowing us to utilise the behavioural testing to its full potential!
